I am lucky enough to have a job that allows me to try anything I want, from mechanical hardware, electrical circuit board, mid-level firmware to high-level software programming. I would like to share all my experience just like the way I learned from you guys! Leave me a message if you find my blog helpful!

    1. Thanks for your interest, David. Hmmm….I can make another one if you are willing to pay….chances are that it might be a little pricy as every piece is hand-made.

  1. How hard do you think it would be to replace the .3MP camera on the PSvita with 5MP or higher mobile camera of same size. Do we need to know the pin layout of the connection?

    1. Hi George

Unfortunately you can’t simply replace the camera module. The driving logic is completely different, let alone the pin-out, which is most likely different.

      1. Thanks for the prompt replay and answer.

How different could it possibly be? If one knew the pin layout and wired it accordingly what other hurdles await? On a scale of 1 to 10, how difficult of a task would you say this? Clearly not as simply as replacing one with the other, but surely not impossible either.

        1. Depend on what camera module you will use, it would possibly be 10 out of 10 in terms of difficulty. The main problem is the driving logic for the module, which might require a whole different mother board.

  2. So if I want any chance of doing this right, I’d have to get documentation on the PsVita camera module as well as on the replacement module to find a camera as similar to the Vita’s? Which is probably as difficult to get as the task at hand. Thanks for putting things in perspective. Such a shame the Vita is coupled .3 MP cameras.
